The position of the mark made by the drill operator on the outer edge of the washer can then be read from the protractor. (In this example, the mark is at a position of 312° clockwise of the pencil mark on the core face as indicated by the tab on the internal diameter and the corresponding V-notch on the outer edge of the washer.)
The Ezy-Mark™ Ori-Protractor is then placed over the core sample to be checked with the 0°position in radial alignment with the pencil mark (made by the Ezy-Mark™ orientation tool) on the core face.
The Orientation marking originally placed on the outer surface of the core by the Drill Operator (marked from the alignment of the Orientation Balls in the Ezy-Mark™ can then be confirmed or corrected to within 10 degrees of true bottom dead centre at any time in the future.
